Cooking Party Pies on a Sandwich Toaster!

E-mail PDF

Abstract
Today's experiment was to test the hypotheses that it was possible to cook Party Pies on the sandwich toaster and produce golden brown Party Pies suitable for office consumption. Only equipment on hand was to be used, with the minimum amount of time and effort required to obtain a conclusive result. The experiment was very successful, with very hot, golden brown party pies being the result.

Introduction
Today we performed another interesting experiment to see just how far we can push our sandwich maker cookery skills. The sandwich maker is one of our favorite cooking utensils because it is very easy to clean, and with a little know how, you can cook all sorts of interesting things on them.

We recommend sandwich makers having a flat non stick cooking surface. This makes them both versatile and very easy to clean.

Herbert Admas party pies were the subject of this experiment, with the aim being to produce very hot, golden brown party pies, that are well suited for consumption, while reducing the effort required to clean up afterwards to a minimum.

Required Materials
* Sunbeam sandwich Toaster: Model: GR8400 240V, 2000W.
* Herbert Adams - 12 Party Pies, 600g total weight.
* Master foods Tomato Sauce, 200ml.
* Nestle Milo, 450g tin. Height 135mm high, diameter 100mm.
* Microwave oven, 1000W.
* Microwave safe dinner plate.
* Metal Tongs.

Method
1. Place 6 frozen Party Pies onto the microwave safe dinner plate and put the plate into the microwave oven.

2. Set the microwave oven timer to 2 minutes 45 seconds on high level and press the start button to defrost the pies.

3. Wait for the microwave to complete its cooking cycle before opening the microwave door.

4. Carefully remove the microwave safe dinner plate, being careful as the contents may be hot.

5. Using the metal tongs, move the now defrosted Party Pies onto the Sunbeam Sandwich toaster.

6. Place the Nestle Milo tin in front of the sandwhich toaster and slowly close the lid so that the sandwich toasters handle will rest on top of the Milo tin. This is required to ensure the structural integrity of the Party Pies is maintained throughout the cooking process. The Party Pies may have to be moved forwards or backwards inside the Sandwich toaster to ensure they are just touching the top surface while the lid is being supported by the Milo tin.

7. Turn on the sandwich toaster and cook the Party Pies for 7 minutes. Occasional checking is required to ensure that carbon build up is not taking place.

8. While waiting for the cooking time to elapse, draw crop circle designs on the microwave safe plate with the Tomato sauce.

9. When the cooking time has elapsed, open the sandwich toaster and move the Milo tin to the side of the preparation area.

10. Using the metal tongs, remove the Party Pies and place them back onto the microwave safe dinner plate.

11. Distribute the party pies for consumption, and deny all knowledge of where the crop circles came from.

Results
The Party Pies came out golden brown and crispy. The internal contents was thoroughly cooked and very hot. Care had to be taken when eating them as they were both very tasty, and very hot, which is a dangerous combination when hungry people are involved.

Conclusion
Cooking Party Pies on the Sandwich maker was possible, and highly successful, leaving very little to clean up and very satisfied stomaches for all.
