 Oooh, haven’t we been a naughty bunch of slackers here at Total-Geek.com: no updates for like, AGES. Tsk tsk.
Well, we’ve been BUSY. And just to prove it so you’ll get off our backs with your tsk-ing, here’s what we’ve been up to. We’ve been to Melbourne! Most of my work colleagues find it extraordinary that someone who has lived in Australia all her life has never been to Melbourne, but in my defense I am a –terrible- flyer and to make matters worse, my Stemetil failed me!!! A doctor who got airsick on a 2.5 hour flight despite antiemetic medication. Just disgraceful. Anyway, once there, no troubles at all in the emesis department and we proceeded to Werribee Open Range Zoo, which is about a 35min shuttle ride out of the CBD. We pre-booked via the zoo website and were picked up outside the Victorian Arts Centre. Weather was lovely, we got there nice and early and had time for a wander about the place and take happysnaps. The zoo itself is lovely and clean and the animals seemed perfectly happy (but I’m a doctor, not a vet, so.) [Editor: Sorry I couldn't help myself. Here is the real doctor link] |

 In these tough economic times, it is to be expected that battling families with mortgages and bills to pay forego some of the luxuries in life and only spend money on the necessities.
But, c’mon guys!!! Our merchandise is COOL. Ahem. We at total-geek.com are very pleased to announce the latest additions to the geek troop: Sexy in Scrubs-the GIRLS. Yessir, the true angels of the healthcare system have arrived, the ones who keep our hospitals running in the face of all that testosterone. AND they look fabulous doing it. Our little surgeon geek seems to be a hit, particularly in the USA. I know you guys wear scrubs all the time there, which we don’t so much Down Under. So now the girls have come to join the party and don’t they look Gorgeous! |

 I have to admit that I have a soft spot for robots and machines. I think it's the idea of robots evolving from simply being very sophisticated machines, into truly sentient forms of artificial life having emotions, desires and goals of their very own that appeals to me.

 Things have been pretty quiet on the total-geek front, because we’ve been SKIING in NEW ZEALAND!!! (Who’s jealous? :P )
And now that we’re back, we’re here to sing the praises of the stuff that kept us warm and safe. I’ll start with the thermals we bought, which are made by a company called Icebreaker, which makes their apparel from the wool of a breed of sheep called the Merino, and they’re special little sheepies: Super fine Merinos are regarded as having the finest and softest wool of any sheep.

 The Optus mobile network appears to have had a number of large scale outages in recent times, and the outages line up suspiciously with the release of the 3G iPhone in Australia.
The 3G iPhone was released in Australia on 2008/07/11, and Optus has experienced major outages and network difficulties on more than 4 occasions that we are aware of since then.
